Boys in blue prove why they are champions

The Indian cricket team deserves all credit for proving it is indeed the champion of champions.

If the 2011 World Cup win was a hard fought one, MS Dhoni's boys virtually rode over every team they played in the Champions Trophy to emerge triumphant. They have lived up to their tag of ‘world beaters'. That they successfully defended a small total in the final, proves their mettle. The boys have effectively silenced the sceptics who had voiced their doubts over India's ability to win matches consistently outside the sub-continent.

The present team is tailor-made for limited-over matches and is brimming with young talent. India's fielding was never so agile and alert. In the absence of some ‘star' players, youngsters like Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina and R Ashwin have formed the nucleus of the team and come into their own. There is little doubt that Dhoni and his boys will continue to lord over world cricket for a significant period of time.
