Blind dislike

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Shot in the arm for NDA” (March 1). lok Janshakti Party supremo Ram Vilas Paswan’s re-entry into the NDA fold is a welcome move. There is a proverb in Hindi that if one abandons one’s home at dawn and returns at dusk, one is not called a deserter. This applies to Mr Paswan. 

His re-entry will pave the way for others for whom till now the BJP was an untouchable. This symbiotic relation is beneficial to both sides, and Mr Paswan has rightly guessed in which direction the wind is blowing.

For many ‘secularists’, Mr Narendra Modi will remain their bête noire despite the clean chits given by a Gujarat court and a Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation team. They will continue to loathe Mr Modi even if he were to be exonerated by god.
