Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Putting on a game face” (June 10). Throughout much of his political life, Mr Nitish Kumar fought against the Congress and lalu Prasad. But compromising with his earlier stand, to come back to power, is deplorable and cannot be justified by any means. Mr Nitish Kumar was the man who participated in the Sampurna Kranti movement in Bihar in the interests of the State’s youth.
Though he has calculated the Yadav-Muslim vote-bank of lalu Prasad, he has not thought about the backlash by the general public. The Indian voter, including in Bihar, is happy with the Modi Government. Bihar’s public will never want to see Mr Nitish Kumar with lalu Prasad. He needs to understand this simple fact.
Simultaneously, the BJP needs to fight the Bihar election with a strong chief ministerial candidate, who is selected with the consent of the State’s leaders and not be thrusted upon by the Centre as had happened in case of Delhi.
