Bihar defeat, a blessing in disguise for the BJP

This refers to the editorial, “Dreams of anti-Modi front” (November 24). Why do we forget that now is the honeymoon period for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief lalu Prasad. This will continue for some time. Moreover, the support of leaders like West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not only boost Mr Nitish Kumar’s ego, but also give him the false hope that he is now well positioned to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will be interesting to see how the alliance between Mr Nitish Kumar and lalu Prasad pans out.

The editorial has rightly said that, like earlier experiences of challenging individual leaders such as Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were unsuccessful, here too, the wishful thinking of regional leaders who aspire to govern the country, is going to die a natural death. But having said that, the BJP must be on it’s toes. It should take this defeat as a blessing in disguise and work relentlessly to fulfil the ambitions of its voters.
