Sir — In a cricket-crazy nation like ours, where star-players are revered as demi-gods, a match-fixing scandal is a severe blow to the faith of a billion fans who follow this sport with unparalleled passion.
Even more reprehensible is the fact that despite being paid handsomely, some players wilfully opt to barter away their integrity for a few lakhs more.
Now with Delhi Police taking the credit for busting the spot-fixing operation, the much-touted anti-corruption unit of the BCCI has been made to look really inept and wanting. It needs to wake up and own responsibility.
