Sir — This refers to the article, “Monumental betrayal of Bengal, its values” (December 28) by Anirban Ganguly. The writer is completely biased in his opinion about West Bengal. He must answer why people from different parts of the country are flocking in droves to West Bengal if indeed the State is a “cesspool of stagnation”.
While the writers sought to talk about the mass migration of Bengalis to other States, he escaped the fact that indigenous Bengalis have been reduced to absolute minority in urban conglomerations of the State. All thanks to the continuous West Bengal-bound flow of migrants. This directly proves the fact that, compared to the laggardness in rest of India, West Bengal is an El Dorado for the Indians.
As far as jihadism is concerned, apart from a single incident in Burdwan, where two extremists got killed while making bombs, not a single terrorist act has been witnessed in Bengal. Comparatively, records of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu Telengana, Rajasthan, Punjab or New Delhi are much higher, where innumerable jihadi attacks and bomb blasts have taken place.
What will one say about the beef politicsIJ While I feel ashamed for it as an Indian, as a proud Bengali I can boldly say that not a single one of these barbaric incidents in Bengal has tarnished the image of India.
