This refers to the report, “CWC tells Rahul to fix 2019 tie-up plan” (July 23). While Congress president Rahul Gandhi reportedly accused the NDA Government of “breaking the social fabric of the country with hatred”, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi stated that “reverse countdown” for the Narendra Modi Government for the 2019 General Election has begun.
Judging from the political fusillade, indeed, the countdown for the upcoming election has commenced.
It is not just for the Modi Government but for all non-performing MPs from both sides, particularly for Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, under whose watch the grand old party is now reduced to 44 MPs from 440 during Rajiv Gandhi's time.
The Congress chief is clearly concerned that beside him there are several regional claimants, namely, Mamata Bannerjee (Trinamool Congress), Mayawati (Bahujan Samaj Party) and Mulayam Singh Yadav (Samajwadi Party), for the top office. Hence, his emphasis for ‘2019 tie-up plan’. But Gandhi is blatantly disregarding the media polls assessment in the wake of miserable outcome of the no-confidence motion in the lok Sabha brought by the Telugu Desam Party, supported by the Congress and other Opposition outfits, against the ruling alliance, the latter has emerged as an overwhelming victor.
