This refers to the article, “Two new Army chiefs. One new ray of hope” (December 21) by Ashok K Mehta. Notwithstanding the anecdotes and military tidbits on Pakistan, losing sight of two fundamentals will be only to India’s peril. One, the Pakistan Army will remain in command on India-policy, even if US-approved core commanders are in place.Two, the Pakistan Army’s focussed aim is the break-up of India. Everything else follows.
