This refers to the report, “Sardar jokes ban impractical: Apex Court seeks suggestion” (February 17). It is the absolute prerogative of the Sikh community to decide whether the ‘Santa-Banta’ jokes should be banned or not. If the sentiments of a community are being hurt, then civility demands that one should desist from making fun at the expense of a community. Such jokes need to be put to an immediate end.
