This refers to the article, “linking caste politics and political suicides” (January 22) by Priyadarshi Dutta. The author has given a refreshing perspective to the scholar’s suicide in an otherwise one-sided coverage by the media.
The young Dalit scholar’s suicide is indeed tragic, but instead of indulging in stereotyping, it is vital that the incident be analysed objectively. I just hope that we foster an atmosphere of balanced thinking, mutual trust and unyielding belief in human kindness, rather than perpetual mistrust and aggression.
