Sir — The Election Commission of India (ECI) has expressed its disapproval of the idea of Government funding the political party’s election expenses and asked for significant changes in the rules for a contesting party’s election expenses. Basically, time is being wasted of the poll panel by asking it to opine on such a topic.
The Election Commission has said that Government funding the party’s election expenses is giving an avenue to it for “collection of money”. The Election Commission feels that the Government funding of the election expenses would only add to one more method of facilitating corruption.
