Bad CBI probe has led to wrong conviction

Published on:

I am shocked and shattered by the verdict of the special CBI court which held the Talwar couple guilty for the murder of their only daughter Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj.

Criminal jurisprudence demands that in a murder case, guilt should be proven beyond any reasonable doubt. Right through, the police and the Central Bureau of Investigation had been harping on the fact that the Talwars destroyed evidence. Even if that is the case, it does not make the parents the killers.

It must be remembered that the CBI had filed a closure report concluding that it did not have a strong case. But the CBI Special judge, in his wisdom, asked the Talwars to stand trial. From here on, the media trial and the court-driven investigation began.

It is true that there are many issues that the Talwars have not been able to provide answers to, but that does not mean they killed their daughter and the domestic help.
