Avoid confrontation

Sir — This refers to the report, “PM’s chai pe charcha with Kejri” (February 13). Mr Arvind Kejriwal has demanded full statehood for Delhi in his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The hurry in raising a contentious issue with the Centre even before taking the oath of office raises serious doubts on the intentions of the Aam Aadmi Party. The party seems to be preparing the ground for putting the ball in the Centre’s court for its failures in coming days.

The AAP can go ahead with fulfilling its promises which are in its purview. The regularisation of 2.5 lakh contract workers and the installation of 15 lakh closed-circuit TV cameras for women’s safety should be the priority. Thus, the welfare of the people who have given a huge mandate to the party and not issues which pose serious complications for both State and Union Governments, should be the areas of action for the new regime in Delhi.
