At nation's cost

Sir — This refers to the report, “Govt forces Army to avoid naming, shaming Pakistan” (August 7). More than the ceasefire violation of the Pakistani Army, which has become a regular affair nowadays, the contradiction in the statements of Union Minister for Defence AK Antony and the Army, is outrageous. 

What is the Congress-led UPA Government’s compulsion to endorse the Pakistani version of ‘non-state players’ acting against IndiaIJ Even if the killing is the handiwork of jihadi elements operating from across the border, it does not absolve the neighbouring Army which is notorious for launching overt and covert strikes against Indian soldiers in the border areas. 

It is unfortunate that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, despite these frequent provocations, is still obsessed with establishing warm relations with our hostile neighbour. This will cost our country dearly.
