Arrogant US

Sir —This refers to the article, “When US behaves as the world’s big bully” (February 28) by G Parthasarathy.

I find the attitude of some people finding the judiciary in the US being more independent than in India amusing. It smacks of arrogance. Time and again, readers, particularly the ones based in the US, have been harping on this argument while referring to the Khobragade affair — that the US judiciary is truly independent, that there is the rule of law. All that was expected in the controversy surrounding Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade was some decency from the US Attorney’s office. Surely the US Attorney’s office could have handled the issue more sensitively, while maintaining the judicial process’s independence.
