Antony hits nail on head; Congress must heed

Published on:

This refers to senior Congress leader AK Antony's remark that sections of the society had got the impression that the Congress was into minority appeasement.

He apparently meant that such appeasement must stop. Why should caste, creed and religion in a secular democracy, where  people's rights are equal, become a political tool for pampering one section of societyIJ

If the benefits of development had been offered to all economically weaker sections, and not just to the main minority community by way of meaningless sops, the country would have progressed in a manner that we all want. The people would have been motivated to perform their best. Unfortunately, the Congress has believed in the divide-and-rule policy from the time of Jawaharlal Nehru. Despite various court directives to prevent minority appeasement, Congress regimes as well those of the so-called secular parties have continued with their nefarious designs.
