Anti-nationals must be handled with firmness

This refers to the article, “larger destabilisation plot in JNU spectacle” (February 15) by Balbir Punj. It is saddening that anti-national slogans were raised by students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University to observe the death anniversary of Afzal Guru. The communists’ support to this event is not surprising at all. History is a witness: Not once have they favoured the national cause, not even during wars, including the 1962 war against China.

The writer has rightly said that since the middle class is gradually drifted away away from the communists, the latter want to align with Islamic extremism, to gain critical wider support from the public, to return to power in West Bengal and Kerala. Therefore, it is also mulling to forge an alliance with the Congress in West Bengal. The world over, communism has disintegrated and is disintegrating, thanks to the anti-people, anti-national activities of the leftists. Unlike the UPA Government, this regime must not keep quiet and should deal with anti-national elements with a firm hand
