Another trap

Sir — This refers to the report, “One hurdle goes, another created” and the editorial “Modi vindicated, again” (December 27). When a Gujarat court has given the clean chit to the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, the Congress-led UPA Government has taken another route to implicate Mr Narendra Modi — by instituting a commission of inquiry into ‘snoopgate’. 

The Government has failed to defeat Mr Modi politically and has, therefore, resorted to tarnishing his image legally. All this is being done with a view to besmirch Mr Modi’s clean image before the 2014 general election.

Also, this is not the first time Mr Modi’s is being targeted. Before the 2009 general election, a probe committee was set up by then Union Minister for Railways lalu Prasad to investigate the Godhra train burning incident.
