Amar Singh isn't wanted in the Samajwadi Party

Published on:

This refers to reports speculating that Mr Amar Singh could re-join the Samajwadi Party. The presence of Mr Singh at the inaugural function of the Janeshwar Mishra Park in lucknow had set many tongues wagging. But party leader Ram Gopal Yadav  dubbed the news of a return as rumour-mongering. It is now evident that SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's invite to Mr Amar Singh to the function was just a matter of courtesy. It was done keeping in mind the latter's long association with the party and Mr Mishra.

Moreover, the SP chief, one of the most senior politicians of the country, will not make the mistake of re-inducting Mr Singh, given that the latter had been the cause of much heartburn within the party when he was perhaps its second-most important person. There is still tremendous opposition to Mr Singh from within the Samajwadi Party ranks, and no senior leader will want his return.
