This refers to the report, “Kaun banega UP CMIJ” (October 18). Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was misguided by his advisers while taking an anti-Akhilesh stand. He stripped his son, Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, of the party’s State presidentship, and denied him a role in the selection of candidates. However, Akhilesh Yadav had the last laugh.
First came Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav’s warning to Mulayam Singh Yadav that, if Akhilesh Yadav is not made the chief ministerial face, the party will be finished. Then came Akhilesh Yadav’s declaration that he may have to begin campaigning all alone. Mulayam Singh Yadav took a U-turn and his party declared Akhilesh Yadav as the SP’s face for the 2017 State election. This is good for the party and also for the State as Akhilesh Yadav is the best among the lot of Samajwadi Party leaders to be the Chief Minister, if the party wins the election.
