The Supreme Court’s order to conduct the All India Pre-Medical Test afresh may sound to like a hassle to many, including the Central Board of Secondary Education, which has been entrusted with herculean task to conduct the examination within four weeks. But the CBSE is fully equipped with the needed resources, it will rise to the occasion and prove to be up to the mark in the eyes of the court. The re-test, however, may come as a nightmare for over six lakh aspirants, who will have to go through an extremely difficult task to re-study the subjects concerned.
Instead of scrapping the exam, the names of top qualifying candidates should be declared, as in normal circumstances. These students should be given a one-hour test. Those who qualify the exam can take admission. This will thwart those who may have qualified the main exam dishonestly. And, of course, needless to say that there must be no letting down in the efforts to nab the culprits.
