This refers to the article, “lessons from Singur and Sanand” (May 2) by Jitendra K Das. We are well aware that human beings, and other creatures, depend on agriculture for food, and, therefore, converting agricultural lands for other purposes is suicidal.
Hence, agriculture, particularly the cultivation of food crops, should be given significance with comparison to industrial projects. Unambiguously, agriculture is the backbone of our economy and utilising agricultural lands for other purposes is a brazen brutality on our future generations.
