Advani's days are gone, BJP needs new drive

Published on:

This refers to the article, “Grandiloquence of a fading leader” (June 19) by Rajesh Singh. Mr lK Advani's high ambition has brought him to a position where he does not seem to care for the party or for the nation.

Any respectable leader would have retired long back, more so after the two consecutive defeats that his party suffered in the lok Sabha elections. In the meantime, the Congress-led UPA regime's blatantly unethical attack on Mr Narendra Modi to weaken the BJP has been so ferocious that the latter has no alternative but to fight back in a ‘do or die' battle.

There is no question of Mr Advani and his supporters deciding anything. The veteran leader has been unable to counter the corrupt politics of the Congress and other minority-appeasing parties like the Samajwadi Party, the Janata Dal (United), the Bahujan Samaj Party and others. Mr Modi is the only hope for the BJP. The coming lok Sabha election is nothing short of a war where passive and self-centred people have no place.
