Accountable polity

Sir —  This refers to the editorial, “Irresponsible Congress” (December 10). I welcome your views on the National Herald case and agree that the issue is to be settled in the court of law and not in the wider political arena, much less in Parliament. Disrupting Parliament is insulting democracy. It brings a bad name to the Congress. The Congress president and vice president should prove their innocence in court.

Furthermore, Indian political parties receive huge donations from many quarters and they are not always properly accounted for. The apex court must rule that all political donations need to be made public and accountable.
