Accepting mistakes

Published on:

Sir — This refers to the article, “Congress caught in its own trap” (August 4) by Sudesh Verma. Congress’s justification that the BJP also did the same while it was in power and having a tit-for-tat approach might suit the party for the time being, but in the larger picture, it is doing more harm than good to the country. More than 10 critical Bills are pending in Parliament.

I agree with the writer’s view that the Congress, after touching the crescendo of high-voltage opposition, now finds itself in a situation where it can neither accept its fault nor let Parliament function normally. It does not even have solid grounds to continue it’s protest as they have been proved hollow.

The Government has withdrawn changes to the UPA’s land Bill and has categorically said that the Prime Minister will intervene if required. So, now when the Government is showing flexibility to accommodate the Congress’ request, it is upon the Congress to introspect and accept its mistake and let Parliament function in the interest of the country.
