Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Roadblock for Modi” (March 17). The recent setback for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar by-polls must be a wake-up call for the party. It can no more rest on the past laurels and needs to buck up if it wants to come back to power in the 2019 Parliamentary election.
There can be no high or low always and one’s life is a mix of both. like-wise, political parties cannot always expect victories and they have to face failures too. This is the law of nature. People can no longer be taken for granted, for they know it well when and whom they should vote in and out. While equanimity will win hearts, arrogance, on the other hand, will kill. The BJP leaders, right from the top to the lower down, should take note of the mood of the people and act with tact to win their hearts.
