ABVP wins in DU and JNU overshadows BJP losses

This refers to the editorial, “Delhi youth endorse BJP” (September 14). It was not just the bagging of all four seats of the Delhi University Students Union elections, but the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad also secured a win in the left-dominated Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union elections, after a gap of 14 years. This is an incredible feat for the BJP's student wing. The Aaam Aadmi Party's student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti stood at the third position in all the four posts. This proves that despite Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s campaigns and the AAP pouring lots of money in the elections, the students have lost faith his leadership.

The BJP’s win in the local elections in Madhya Pradesh, Bangalore and Rajasthan, and now the victory in the student elections, is testimony to the fact that the loss in the Delhi Assembly election was only an aberration. Now the BJP has to live upto the people's expectations and fulfill all its promises and build more credibility. These victories should not get into its head.
