Sir — This refers to reports that violence broke out in Tamil Nadu after reports of AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa’s conviction filtered in. Three AIADMK workers even attempted self-immolation. Party workers pelted stones at the residence of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy and burnt his effigy, as he was the one who filed the disproportionate assets case in 1996.
Such reactions are condemnable as they are a threat to the principle of clean politics. Either the people of Tamil Nadu are wrongly informed or they have accepted corruption as an integral part of leadership.
