Sir — Politicians in our country are really distortive when it comes to defending themselves against their misdemeanours. The Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, when cornered for misusing the taxpayers’ money which it used to defend a private defamation suit against its chief, innovatively claimed that the legal fee of Rs3.8 crore has to be borne by the people of the State in the interest of cricket. They yet came up with yet another satisfactory explanation for splurging over Rs100 crore in a series of advertisements. Nothing short of a public whiplash against perpetrators of such misdeeds can correct this situation.
