AAP needs to re-invent itself or be discredited

This refers to the article, “Aping the AAP won't fetch votes” (January 17) by Kalyani Shankar. The writer is correct in her observation about the Congress. It is a party which needs serious re-thinking about its ideology and existence as a Nehru-Gandhi-controlled outfit. The Bharatiya Janata Party, on the other hand, should make some tactical changes to counter the hysteria created by the media in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party. There is no need to re-invent per se, as suggested by the author. The BJP is a party driven by its ideology and cadre. Any compromise on that front will be suicidal.

The events of the last two days have shown serious shortcomings in the functioning of the AAP as a political organisation and in governance. The lack of ideology, inconsistent remarks on policy issues and the amalgamation of vested interests in the party, are clearly showing. The suggestion of a re-invention of the AAP might be in order.
