Mr Pichai Sundararajan's appointment as Google’s chief executive officer is a moment of immense pride for all Indians who dare to dream big and convert their dreams into reality through hard work. Mr Pichai's achievement shows that people from humble backgrounds can succeed if they are equipped with skills and knowledge.
Mr Pichai has, in a manner, paid rich tributes to former President APJ Abdul Kalam who was himself a man of innovation. He enlightened generations of beautiful minds by motivating them to follow their dreams.
Also, Google Inc has set an example that Indian corporates should emulate. It has shown that talent, if spotted young, should not be held hostage to archaic institutional policies where top leadership positions are usually awarded to ‘deserving’ individuals only as souvenirs, when they are almost on the verge of hanging up their boots.
