A strong and determined reply to Manipur ambush

Published on:

In a strong response to the militant ambush that killed 18 soldiers in Manipur earlier this month, elite forces of the Indian Army on Tuesday launched a major surgical operation across the India-Myanmar border, killing several insurgents and damaging their infrastructure. Indian soldiers went well into Myanmar territory and destroyed the two camps from where the militant outfit, led by the Khaplang faction of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland, had launched their attack. In the process, no casualties were suffered on the Indian side.

The Government of India should be congratulated for taking a pro-active policy against such terrorism. This is the first time that the Indian Army has officially carried out such a major anti-terror operation outside Indian territory. Through this strike, India has given a strong message to all militant groups that any attack on the country will not go unanswered and a heavy price will be extracted.
