A long way to go before 'caged parrot' is freed

The Congress has used the country's premier investigating agency as a tool to serve the party's political interests. So it comes as no surprise that it is dithering in releasing the CBI from its clutches. It was the manipulation of the CBI report in the Supreme Court-monitored Coalgate inquiry, that enraged the apex court and the Congress-led UPA Government was directed by the court to submit a plan to make the CBI independent.
The fact that the unwilling UPA regime deputed its own Ministers to submit the plan for making the ‘caged parrot' independent, demonstrates clearly the Government's mala fide intention of dodging the Supreme Court. As was expected, the Government has come up with a plan which doesn't really address the core issue of freedom of the CBI from the Government's control. The Supreme Court is unlikely to spare the Government over this deliberate obfuscation of the issue.
