This refers to the editorial, “Reduced to bit player” (January 26). Verily speaking, all political parties in alliance, have their respective interests to serve. And at times, they have to compromise with their allies on certain issues in order to reach an agreement that's acceptable to all. Hence, drawing their inspiration from the much-hypedmahasangathan of seven parties with starkly different ideologies in Bihar in 2015, the two old heads on young shoulders — Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi, who also enjoy good rapport with each other — long for a repeat performance of defeating the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
The editorial is spot on in observing that in the present tie-up scenario, the Congress seems to be playing second-fiddle to the Samajwadi Party. But in the event the ‘hand' of the Congress succeeds in holding the handle of the ‘cycle', tartly to the winning post in Uttar Pradesh, this will stand Congress in good stead for the 2019 lok Sabha election. But a Persian saying goes, Dilli hunooz door ast, meaning: The destination is still a long distance.
