Blame game

Sir — This refers to your editorial, “Imran’s Pakistan” (July 27). Imran Khan’s party, which has already struck bonhomie with the military, needs to make some kind of arrangement with the military, if it wants to survive. But the challenges Imran Khan, a philosophy, political science and economics graduate from the Oxford University, faces are gigantic. That said, I was surprised to read in one of Pakistani newspaper’s editorial that the Indian media thrives on fake and fabricated news from Pakistan to boost its TRP.

There’s a big misconception in Pakistan that the country is somehow important enough to be a focal point in Indian elections. It is not. Pakistan is only mentioned in Indian election campaigns as a passing reference in the context of terrorism and security. Also, the media in both countries highlight the negatives of each other.
