Sir — This refers to the article, “Dear Friends, Be Alert”, by Anirban Ganguly (April 19). The writer’s ‘Open letter’ is a rejoinder to a similar letter written by BJP leader Yashwant Sinha in another national daily. In the published letter, Sinha urged BJP MPs to revolt against the party’s leadership “to save democracy and the country”. Sinha, a member of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cabinet, was not included in the Narendra Modi Cabinet. Instead, his son Jayant Sinha became a Cabinet Minister in the 2014 NDA regime. Sinha’s grouse against the party seemed to have surfaced since then.
The writer has rightly countered Sinha’s cacophony of multiple ‘failures’ of the Modi Government with facts and figures: Forex reserves have hit a record high of $424.86 billion, India’s growth for 2018-19 stands at 7.3-7.7 per cent, industrial output is rising, investment climate has improved, women, minorities, and weaker sections — SC/STs, are being empowered.
