Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Fighting child abuse” (March 7).The Delhi Government must be applauded for taking an extreme step to send directives to all nursery schools to not employ any male worker on the premises.
It may be a very harsh decision but given an increase in the number of sexual abuse cases witnessed in the last few years, the Delhi Government has taken the right decision. Ever since the unfortunate death of a Class II student of Ryan International School, Gurgaon, schools across the national capital region and also authorities have become cautious and sensitive about child sexual abuse.
I agree with the view of the editorial that the next step should be to counsel female workers who will replace their male counterpart to discharge their duties perfectly so that in case of any untoward incident, they are able to handle it well.
