Dirty politics

Sir —This refers to the editorial, “Power politics” (January 31). We all know, shelf-life for any Opposition combine has not so far been very long in the political history of the country. Courtesy, different political interests of disparate groups getting faute de mieux united against any powerful regime ruling and at the helm, or for that matter the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre.

Political stalwart  Sharad Pawar’s ‘March to save the Constitution’ in Mumbai on Republic Day is reminiscent of the same idea occurring to all Opposition leaders. Politics is a game of opportunities and equations, it is replete with myriad interesting twists and turns and also makes  the strangest of bedfellows for political dividends. This development is, therefore, not going to shock the people.

I concur with the suggestion made in the editorial that there might emerge divergence of views on the leader of this proposed Opposition combine as every party as well as leader has their personal ambition and party agenda. After all, Dilli hunoz door ast. let us wait and see whether or not the new idea purportedly premised on dislodging the ruling BJP works. Only time will tell.
