Pakistan exposed

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Well begun’s half done” (January 3). Hats off to US President  Donald Trump to have given India a true New Year gift by breaking the begging bowl of a haughty Pakistan and making it squirm by withholding $255 million as aid to fight terrorism in its own country and in adjoining Afghanistan.

Trump rightly stated in his Tweet that Pakistan had been fooling the US for the past 15 years in the name of rooting out terrorism and as a prodigal son, it had channeled $33 billion through another route to abate terrorism in India. This rebuff has sent a pall of gloom in Pakistan’s administration and its lone all-weather friend, China, which has come to its rescue to assuage its feelings.

This huge amount proffered to the rogue state by the US was the hard earned money of the US tax payers’, which the former blew up.

In the last week itself, around 100 people lost their lives in Afghanistan, either with connivance of Pakistan or directly under its patronage.

Hafiz Saeed, one of the most wanted global terrorists on whom there is a bounty of $10 million, is aspiring to become a law-maker by forming a party to contest the next general election in Pakistan. This is also one of the factors that has led to the freezing of the US behemoth monetary assistance to Pakistan.
