Sir — October 8, is celebrated as the Indian Air Force (IAF) day. It is indeed a proud moment for Indians that women pilots will be flying Sukhoi-30 this month. In December 2015, the entry of women into the IAF’s fighter stream was approved on an experimental basis for five years, thus paving the way for them to assume combat roles for the first time in one of the world’s largest militaries. These brave Indian women have shown that they are equal and second to none. This progressive step is a great take off to help them soar high in their careers and make the nation proud.
