Sir — This refers to the report, “Game of RS thrones in full swing in Guj”, (August 8). Exposing the sorry plight in which the grand old party finds itself, first the Janata Dal (United) and now the Nationalist Congress Party also turned their backs on the Congress. ‘A shocking travesty of democracy’, was how the very same Congress condemned the sequestering of the Members of the legislative Assembly of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in a resort near Chennai by VK Sasikala and her cohorts for 10 days preceding a ‘confidence vote’.
What the Congress has done now in flying 44 of its own Gujarat flock to a resort near distant Bengaluru and further keeping them under wraps, is not only condemnable but holds a mirror to Congress’ hypocrisy. Its lame excuse that “this has been done before” only makes it worse. The least the party can do is to stop sermonising, and consider the irretrievable depths it has fallen into within a few years.
