Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Bengal in flames again” (July 8). The war of words between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Governor KN Tripathi is an indication of dirty politics in time of action. Mamata Banerjee is known for her histrionics and her statements are often an exaggeration. It is true that for many years, now and earlier, under the United Progressive Alliance rule, there has been a tendency for Governors to play politics and adopt partisan attitude. Raj Bhavan also requires impartiality, and a sense of fair play which, unfortunately, is lacking.
