Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Now, a symbolic contest” (June 24). Ending any possible row about castes in the race to Raisina Hill, the Congress and its allies have chosen to field Meira Kumar, a Scheduled Caste member, against the BJP candidate from the same category, Ram Nath Kovind, for the office of the President. The high office of the President has become a victim of dirty political game which mocks the secular credentials of our nation. The law-makers of the ruling party and the Opposition are strongly on this path.
