Sir — This refers to the article, “Farmer cause real, violence political” (June 13) by Sandhya Jain. The loss of lives of farmers in Mandsaur is tragic. While the cause of the farmers’ agitation was genuine, it was given political colour. The police and the administration earlier claimed that shots were fired not by the police, but from among the mob.
A video showing Congress MlA Shakuntla Khatik purportedly inciting party workers and farmers to torch a police station during the farmers protest is already doing the rounds. This proves that the Congress is so perturbed after losing election after election that it is unable to distinguish between virtuous and vicious means to play its role.
