Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Trump’s climate change” (June 5). The US’s decision to exit from the Paris climate change accord will come as a serious threat to the entire planet. The condition of the global environment is such that delay by even a single day, in executing the policy, will lead to an increase in pollution level to unmanageable numbers. The US is undoubtedly a developed country, but how would it matter if the nation proves to be a factor of destruction instead of benefiting the globeIJ
Fortunately, environmental awareness is fast spreading in India and, therefore, it is hoped that the atmosphere will likely improve in the coming years. However, the US’s withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement will affect not only the environment over there, but it will also be a potential threat to the countries across the globe. Needless to say, it will adversely affect our future generations too. It is, therefore, up to us how we want our future to be. After all, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
