Sir — It is unfortunate that it took 25 long years for a sensitive case like the Babri Masjid demolition case to come to a final stage, with the Supreme Court ordering revival of criminal conspiracy charges against the BJP and its leaders, including lK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Union Minister Uma Bharti. It is heartening that the judiciary has expressed its desire that no one involved in the conspiracy, despite their stature, should escape from the hands of law. The apex court’s ruling reminds me of a Tamil adage, Arasu antre kollum; Theivam nintru kollum — meaning, the king will punish the guilty immediately without allowing any respite; god would, after a reasonable wait, but surely and severely.
