This refers to the editorial, “Now, blame a machine” (March 17). The Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh have not been able to digest their shocking defeat and blamed the EVM machines for their defeat. This is nothing but a simple case of sour grapes.
As far as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is concerned, he has the habit of making fun of himself by blaming one or the other for his failures. Earlier it was Delhi’s lt Governor and the Prime Minister, now he has not even spared the EVMs. It is the same EVMs which got him to power in Delhi twice.
Yes, making a sweeping statement about faulty EVMs being the reason for AAP’s defeat, defies all logic. It shows his frustration. He should have shown maturity by being gracious in his party’s defeat in Punjab and Goa. Moreover, there are so many promises which are yet to be fulfilled for Delhi’s voters. It is high time that he focuses on that rather than try to expand his footprint to other States without establishing his party’s credentials for a full five years in Delhi.
