Sir — This refers to the report, “lucknow terror siege ends” (March 8). The killing of Islamic State (IS) terror suspect in lucknow is a giant stride by the Indian security agencies. It also underscores the fears that the IS is gaining foothold in India. After the fall of Aleppo, the IS is rapidly losing ground in Syria and Iraq. It is, therefore, natural for a brutal terror organisation like the IS to shift its base and operations to other regions like Pakistan, Afghanistan and India — which could be its natural sanctuary due to the availability of well-trained and highly-motivated cadre. It is time the Central and State security agencies intensify their operations.
