Though newly-elected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said he would be running ‘Amma’s Government’ in the State, in actual terms he will be running a Government of Chinnamma, a lethal combination of two convicts, one dead and the other in prison. Can democracy descend to deeper depths of depravityIJ The Election Commission of India has maintained an eerie silence; the Supreme Court may not intervene and the Prime Minister will continue to make noises without addressing the real issue. This is democracy in practice in the world’s largest democracy.
