Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Riding high on education” (February 4). The oil spill along the Chennai coast line is indeed tragic. Now that the damage has been done, the Indian Coast Guard must not only thoroughly probe this incident, but also make the owners of Dawn Kanchipuram pay for the shoreline cleanup and damages that it has caused to marine life.
Hopefully, the Tamil Nadu Government will intervene into the matter and ensure that pollutants are removed from the sea at the earliest. Post the death of J Jayalalithaa, Tamil Nadu is indeed having a tough time amidst all the political churning.
